Alexies Dagnino es neurobiólogo y profesor titular de la Universidad de Valparaíso. Estudió bioquímica en la Universidad Austral de Chile y luego obtuvo el grado de Doctor en Ciencias Biomédica en la Universidad de Chile. Ha realizado varias estadías de investigaciones donde se especializó en los efectos del estrés sobre la salud mental en la Stanford University (Salpolsky’s Lab, USA), University of Texas at Dallas (Atzori’s Lab, USA) y la University of Brighton (Flint’s Lab, UK). Desde el año 2011 es académico del Instituto de Fisiología de la Facultad de Ciencias. Su principal área de investigación es el estudio de las bases neurobiológicas de la resiliencia al estrés y su relación con el origen de enfermedades mentales como la depresión y los trastornos ansiosos.
