Alexies Dagnino is a neurobiologist and full professor at the University of Valparaíso. He studied biochemistry at the Universidad Austral de Chile and then obtained a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the Universidad de Chile. He has conducted several research stays where he specialised in the effects of stress on mental health at Stanford University (Salpolsky’s Lab, USA), the University of Texas at Dallas (Atzori’s Lab, USA) and the University of Brighton (Flint’s Lab, UK). Since 2011, he has been an academic at the Institute of Physiology of the Faculty of Science. His main area of research is the study of the neurobiological basis of resilience to stress and its relationship with the origin of mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety disorders.
