CIESAL researcher was nominated for an award at the European Anesthesia Congress

Dr. Nicolás Meza, researcher at CIESAL, has been nominated for an important award at the upcoming Euroanaesthesia 2024 congress, which will take place from 24-27 May in Munich, Germany.

Euroanaesthesia 2024 is one of the most prominent and influential scientific meetings for anaesthesia professionals worldwide, promoting education, knowledge translation and innovation in anaesthesia, intensive care, pain management and perioperative medicine.

Nicolás Meza, currently pursuing his doctoral thesis at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, is involved in the PACORUS-S study as a pre-doctoral researcher under the supervision of Dr. Gerard Urrútia and Dr. Ekaterine Popova from the Epidemiology Service of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, Spain.

Among the 1395 abstracts submitted for Euroanaesthesia 2024, the study, which is part of Dr. Meza’s doctoral thesis, is entitled “Patient-Centred Outcomes and Resource Utilisation after non-cardiac Surgery-Spain (PACORUS-S): a cohort using administrative electronic data”. Dr. Meza´s work has been selected for oral presentation and is a candidate for the best paper of the meeting award.

The PACORUS-S study, a collaborative effort with Dr Giovanna Lurati Buse, an anaesthesiologist and researcher at Düsseldorf University Hospital and Heinrich Heine University (Germany), focuses on exploring patient-centred outcomes and resource utilisation after non-cardiac Surgery-Spain (PACORUS-S: a cohort using administrative electronic data).
